Hello in Spanish

Hola, Dominican Republic

Palm-fringed beaches, merengue rhythms and colonial charm.

About Dominican Republic

The Caribbean, all in one island

Endless palm-lined sand in Punta Cana, the whale-watching bays of Samaná and the cobbled Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo — the Dominican Republic offers superb-value all-inclusives with plenty to explore beyond the beach. We plan the whole trip: flights, resorts, transfers and excursions, with one team you can message.

Where to go

Also worth considering
La Romana & Bayahibe

Gateway to Saona Island, with golf, diving and calm Caribbean water.

Puerto Plata & the north coast

Cable car views, the Damajagua waterfalls and laid-back Atlantic beach towns.

Culture and customs

Dominicans are sociable and warm, with music and dancing at the heart of daily life.

Learn a little Spanish. Spanish is the main language. A friendly “hola”, “buenos días” and “gracias” are always welcome, especially away from the resorts.

Carry your ID. Always carry copies of your passport's photo page and your entry stamp.

Drugs carry severe penalties. There are severe penalties for all drug offences — possessing even a small quantity can lead to a fine and a prison sentence.

LGBT+ travellers. Same-sex relations are legal but same-sex marriage is not recognised, and public displays of affection may attract unwanted attention.

Choose activities with care. Adventure and water-sports providers may not meet UK safety standards — check their safety standards and make sure your insurance covers what you plan to do.

Questions people ask

Travelling to Dominican Republic — quick answers

Can’t see your question? Send us a message or WhatsApp us.

Do I need a visa for the Dominican Republic with a British passport?

No. You can visit the Dominican Republic for tourism without a visa for 30 days, and you can pay to extend your visit up to 120 days through the Dominican Republic Immigration Service. Until 31 December 2026, British passport holders can enter and leave as long as their passport remains valid for the duration of their visit. You must fill in the free e-Ticket entry and exit form online before arriving and before leaving, at eticket.migracion.gob.do — you'll get a QR code to show at check-in or at the airport.

How long is the flight from the UK to the Dominican Republic?

Nonstop flights from Gatwick and Manchester to Punta Cana take about 9 hours with TUI. Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata and La Romana are usually reached with one connection, for example via Miami, New York or Madrid.

When is the best time to visit the Dominican Republic?

December to April is the dry season and the most popular time to go. The Caribbean hurricane season normally runs from June to November, so keep an eye on forecasts if you travel then and make sure your travel insurance covers you.

Is the Dominican Republic safe for tourists?

Most visits are trouble-free, but the FCDO says the crime rate is high, so avoid remote areas after dark, don't carry large amounts of cash and keep valuables out of sight. Lifeguards may not be present at beaches and pools. The land border with Haiti is closed and the FCDO advises against all travel to Haiti. Read the latest GOV.UK travel advice before you go.

Can Travel Style book my whole Dominican Republic trip?

Yes. We're IATA accredited, so we issue flights ourselves and can add resorts, transfers and excursions in one booking — with one team to message before, during and after your trip.
