About Seychelles

Island paradise, perfectly paced

Scattered across the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles is made for honeymoons and slow, sun-filled days — granite-framed beaches, lush mountain trails and some of the world's most beautiful coves. Stay on one island or hop between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, with flights, transfers and resorts planned by one team you can message.

Island-hopping

Private-island hideaways

Secluded resorts on smaller islands, ideal for a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon.

Culture and customs

Seychellois life is relaxed and friendly, blending African, French, British and Asian influences.

Pick your beach by season. West-coast beaches are best avoided for swimming during the north-west monsoon (around December to March), and east-coast beaches during the south-east winds (around May to September).

Swim with care. Few beaches have lifeguards or safety signs, and Beau Vallon can have rip currents when the sea is rough — ask locally about conditions before you swim.

Boat trips. Listen to the safety briefing and make sure life jackets are provided, especially on smaller excursion boats.

Beachwear is for the beach. Topless sunbathing is uncommon, and nudism is not accepted and is likely to cause offence.

Drugs. Penalties for possession, transit or supply are severe and can include life imprisonment. Pack your own bags and never carry anything through customs for anyone else.

Same-sex couples. Same-sex relationships are legal, although attitudes vary and same-sex marriage is not recognised.

Questions people ask

Travelling to Seychelles — quick answers

Can’t see your question? Send us a message or WhatsApp us.

Do I need a visa for the Seychelles with a British passport?

No visa is needed, but you must get a travel authorisation before you travel, applied for and paid online at the official site (seychelles.govtas.com), up to 30 days before arrival. You will need a return or onward ticket, confirmed accommodation and enough funds for your stay. On arrival you receive a 3-month visitor's permit, and your passport must be valid for your whole stay.

How long is the flight from the UK to the Seychelles?

There are no nonstop flights from the UK, so you fly with one connection, for example via Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul or Addis Ababa. Flying time is usually about 11 to 12½ hours, plus your connection.

When is the best time to visit the Seychelles?

The Seychelles is warm all year. April to May and October to November, between the seasonal trade winds, usually bring the calmest seas. December to March is hotter and more humid with more rain, while May to September is breezier and drier.

Which vaccinations do I need for the Seychelles?

TravelHealthPro lists tetanus for most travellers. A yellow fever certificate is not needed when travelling from the UK, but it is required if you arrive from a country with yellow fever risk or spend more than 12 hours in transit at an airport in one — worth checking if you connect in Africa, such as in Addis Ababa or Nairobi.

Is it safe to swim in the Seychelles?

Yes, with care. The FCDO notes that the west coast is unsafe for swimming during the north-west monsoon (around December to March) and the east coast during the south-east winds (around May to September), and popular beaches such as Beau Vallon can have rip currents when the sea is rough, with few lifeguards. It also advises being alert in Beau Vallon, the back streets of Victoria and isolated areas at night.
