Hello in Spanish

Hola, Spain

Sunshine, tapas and some of Europe’s greatest cities — two hours away.

About Spain

Everything, all year round

Beach breaks on the Costas and the islands, city breaks in Barcelona, Madrid and Seville, and the Moorish palaces of Andalusia — Spain has it all, with direct flights from almost every UK airport. We book flights, hotels, villas and transfers together.

Where to go

Culture and customs

Spain runs on a later clock than the UK — slow down and enjoy it.

Late meals. Lunch is from about 2pm and dinner rarely before 9pm, especially in the south.

Siesta hours. Smaller shops may close for a few hours in the afternoon outside the big cities and resorts.

Tipping. Not expected; rounding up or leaving a few euros for good service is plenty.

Beachwear. In some areas it’s illegal to walk the streets in just swimwear or bare-chested, and you can be fined — cover up away from the beach.

Drinking outdoors. Drinking alcohol in the street is illegal in some areas, with on-the-spot fines, and parts of Mallorca and Ibiza limit happy hours, pub crawls and late-night alcohol sales.

Carry ID. You must show photo ID if a police officer asks, so keep your passport with you.

Questions people ask

Travelling to Spain — quick answers

Can’t see your question? Send us a message or WhatsApp us.

Do I need a visa for Spain with a British passport?

No — for holidays you can stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the Schengen area. Your passport must have been issued less than 10 years before you arrive and be valid for at least 3 months after you leave. Border officers may ask for your return ticket, travel insurance and accommodation details, and you may need to register for the EU Entry/Exit System (EES). If you hold another passport, we can help with a Schengen visa.

How long is the flight to Spain?

About 2 to 3 hours from the UK to Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga or Mallorca, and around 4 to 4½ hours to the Canary Islands.

Where is warm in winter?

The Canary Islands are the warmest choice in winter, with mild, sunny days when the mainland is cool.

Can you book villas?

Yes — we can arrange villas, hotels and apartments with flights and car hire.
