Five thousand years of wonder
Stand beneath the Pyramids of Giza, sail the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, then unwind on the coral coast of the Red Sea. Egypt pairs the world's greatest ancient sites with warm winter sunshine, and we plan the whole trip: flights, cruises, hotels, guides and transfers, with one team you can message.
Where to go

The Great Pyramid, the Sphinx and the treasures of the Grand Egyptian Museum — the classic start to any trip.

Karnak, Luxor Temple and the Valley of the Kings — an open-air museum on the banks of the Nile.

Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh and Marsa Alam — warm water, coral reefs and easy all-inclusive stays.
Sail between Luxor and Aswan, stopping at Edfu and Kom Ombo along the way.
Feluccas, Nubian villages and Ramses II's great rock-cut temples near the Sudanese border.
Culture and customs
Egyptians are famously hospitable, and modest dress and a little patience go a long way.
Dress modestly. Dress modestly, especially in rural areas, mosques and souqs. Swimwear is for the pool and the beach.
Alcohol. Drink only in licensed restaurants and bars, private homes or tourist resorts where it is permitted. Drinking elsewhere is illegal.
Take care with photos. It is illegal to take or share photos that could be seen as damaging to Egypt's image. Drones need prior permission from the Ministry of Defence.
Carry your passport. Police check ID regularly and will ask to see your passport, so keep it with you.
Respect Ramadan. During Ramadan, avoid eating, drinking or smoking in public during daylight hours.
Drugs. Possessing, using or trafficking illegal drugs is a serious offence. Khat is illegal.

Travelling to Egypt — quick answers
Can’t see your question? Send us a message or WhatsApp us.
Do I need a visa for Egypt with a British passport?
Usually, yes. You can apply for an e-visa online before you travel (tourist e-visas are valid for up to 3 months), or buy a 30-day visa on arrival at approved airports for 30 US dollars, cash only. If you arrive by air at Sharm El Sheikh and stay under 15 days only in Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba, you get a free entry stamp instead. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from arrival and have a blank page.
Is it safe to travel to Egypt?
The UK Foreign Office advises against all travel to North Sinai and the area near the Libyan border, and against all but essential travel to some other areas, including parts of the Western Desert and northern South Sinai. Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel and the Red Sea resorts are outside these areas. Check the latest GOV.UK travel advice before you book and again before you go, as travelling against it can invalidate your insurance.
How long is the flight from the UK to Egypt?
Nonstop flights from Heathrow to Cairo take about 5 hours with British Airways and EgyptAir. Flights to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh take around 5½ to 6 hours, with easyJet flying from several UK airports. Luxor is usually reached via Cairo.
When is the best time to visit Egypt?
October to April is the most comfortable time for Cairo, Luxor and a Nile cruise. Summer is very hot inland, while the Red Sea resorts are good all year, with the warmest sea in summer and autumn.
Can Travel Style book my whole Egypt trip?
Yes. We're IATA accredited, so we issue flights ourselves and can add hotels, a Nile cruise, internal flights, guides and transfers in one booking — with one team to message before, during and after your trip.
